Christmas Morning Breakfast Menu, and COOKIES!

Alright guys. This month on the blog we’ve been focusing on adding even more joy into the most joyful season of the year. You know what goes right along with Christmas joy in my humble opinion? FOODIEEEES. Food. Yep! Guys, part of the fun of Christmas is all of the fun foods that we get to eat! Growing up, Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas morning breakfasts were two of my favorite things to look forward to. Yes, it’s definitely thanks to the food, but it’s ALSO thanks to the experience of making and eating the food. On Christmas Eve we get to have dishes we only have on Christmas Eve, we eat dinner on special Christmas dishes, we decorate the table, play classical Christmas music, and relish in the experience of the special dinner. Same goes for Christmas breakfast. Do you guys do the same?

Today I wanted to share with you our Christmas morning breakfast menu, dinner menu, as well as a few of my FAVORITE Christmas Cookie recipes! Is it just me or is getting a glimpse into other people’s food just way too fun?! Anywho, let’s hope into it!

This menu is pretty much exactly what I grew up with, but why fix it if it aint broke am I right?!

Christmas Breakfast Menu:

  • Cinnamon Bun Christmas Tree - we always add cherries to make it look like there are ornaments on it!

  • Scrambled Eggs

  • Sausage Links - not patties, not bacon, links.

  • Toast and Homemade Cheese Ball (i know, weird, but so good)

  • Coffee and Matcha of course!

It’s simple, but it’s fun! The key is plating it all to make it feel like a fun experience! So stinking cheesy and funny of me, but hey it makes me happy!

Christmas Dinner Menu

Growing up, my family always had a very Polish style Christmas Day dinner. being that this is the first year that Tyler and I are in our own home together on Christmas Day, I want to start a new tradition together! Instead of doing a fully Polish meal, we’re going half and half with Polish and Lebanese this year. Tyler’s all time favorite foods are Lebanese style and guys, they are SO good.

Polish:

  • Pierogis - entirely from scratch, noodles and all! I remember doing this with my Great Aunt (who was really like my Grandma figure on my Dad’s side) when I was really young. I can’t wait to do this with our own kids one day!

  • Sauerkraut

Lebanese:

  • Fatayar - a meat or spinach pie pocket.

  • Homemade hummus and pita

  • Lebanese Pomegranate Salad

It’s definitely not traditional, but it’s special for us! I’d love to hear what you’re guys’ traditions are!

My FAVORITE Christmas Cookie Recipes:

Thumprints:

  • 1.5 cups unsalted butter

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 3.5 cups flour

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • seedless jelly in flavor of your choice (I love apricot)

This recipe is from a magazine my Mom cut out YEARS ago! It’s by Cynthia Caldwell. Preheat the oven to 350. Cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Combine flour and salt into butter mixture, it will be crumbly. Form into balls and press your thumb into the center. Fill the center with jelly. Bake for 10-15 minutes.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

Sugar Cookies, just to decorate of course!

Chocolate Presents

Another past magazine find!

Red Velvet Cheesecake brownies

Healthified: Cranberry Bliss Balls

If you’re like me, you want to join in on the Christmas Cookie fun, but after a while all the sugar just feels nasty. Which is why I ALWAYS like to make a healthified cookie to go along with these! I also love these cranberry coconut cookies! That way you get to indulge in the experience without the sugar hangover!
