Are You Really Trying? Okay. Here’s the dealio. There are two kinds of people in this world. Those who are successful and those who aren’t.
Which one do you want to be? Which one are you?
Do you live according to the one you WANT to be or the one you are? Do you think that has to do with the current state you’re in?
You bet your buttons it does.
Excuses are everywhere.
“I don’t have time.”
“I hate cooking.” “I don’t know how to cook.”
“I have terrible genes.”
“It was my birthday.”
“My friend had a party.”
“I got a cold for a while.”
“I got injured.”
“My job is really demanding.”
And on and on the list goes. Are they legitimate? Yeah absolutely. Are they they reason you’re failing? No.
Any one of those things and many more can slow you down. But if they stop you then you’re not trying. I know it’s blunt and it may hurt some feelings but it’s true and this is the place we have to go to even though it’s hard. Because when you start to LIVE like the person you WANT to BE…THEN you will be successful. It is not I will become that person and I will have that life. It is I will live in the way I want my life to be and then I will be successful.
Let me paint the picture:
Person A is sick of her own bull shit. She wants to lose the last 20 pounds once and for all, have being healthy be as natural as fish swimming in the ocean and have the confidence and energy of the person she dreams of becoming. She decides it’s the weekend and rewards herself with a less than nutritious meal on the weekend that turns into a cheat day that turns into an all out spiral for three days straight and she comforts herself by saying we’ll try again Monday and then it will be different. And on and on it goes, the 20 pounds don’t budge. She continues to fall to self doubt.
Person B is also sick of her own bull shit. She also wants to lose the last 20 pounds once and for all, have being healthy be as natural as fish swimming in the ocean and have the confidence and energy of the person she dreams of becoming. She decides that this weekend she wants to have a less than nutritious meal because it’s life and she can’t possibly think she’ll never again eat something “not clean.” She has the meal, satisfies her craving after a week of great meals. She listens to her body tell her when she’s full and doesn’t finish the whole thing because she’s not sure when she’ll get to have it again. What once used to turn into a cheat weekend is now just a meal. She knows what she wants, she lives as if she has it already. She loses the 20 pounds easily while having fun, living life and improving at her job.
It’s much more than eat well and exercise. Make it your life. Change the way you think to be in line with what you want. Let the way you think determine your behaviors. Your behaviors determine your reality. Your reality is then determined by the way you think. If you have the same thought process trying to be successful as you did the 50 times you were not successful what makes you think this time will be different?
The most important first step (yes FIRST) is to make sure your mind is in the right place. Then, my dear, success is inevitable.
